It was not created by a Ukranian company, Ukraine has neither the expertise nor the resources to build such an colossus. The Antonov was designed by a Soviet Union company called Antonov that later became a Ukrainian company after the fall of the Soviet Union due to its location in the Ukraine territory. You can’t always attribute the bad to Moscow and the Soviet Union, and the good to individual breakaway states like Ukraine. Only the Antonov An-124. The newest version which has started serial production inside Russia can lift up to 200 tonnes, whereas the older versions lifted up to 150 tonnes.
Been inside and all over one, several years ago and it was an awesome, never to be forgotten experience.

It was Russia, by the way, that invaded Ukraine (curiously this article fails to name the aggressor). Although the Mriya was seriously damaged at the start of the full-scale invasion, it may be possible to repair it using parts from a half-built second airframe. President Zelenskyy said this magnificent aircraft would be rebuilt but it’s unlikely to be a priority at the moment.
