    If exposure to radiation triggers the quartz crystals to essentially “grow” to refill cracks or damage, wouldn’t this same quality cause the radiation exposed, non-damaged concrete to continually expand and thus create a whole new set of issues? I.e. What characteristic of quartz would allow it to differentiate between damaged vs healthy concrete and in turn switch this growth attribute on and off when all of the concrete would be under constant exposure to this type nuclear radiation?
