      Is it not though? The ability to maintain this program of OUR nuclear research and design for now and future sword rattling anyway, is a very important factor in the USA and to the world security. The USAneeds this in order to contiue being free and unbothered, for as long as we can.
      I seriously doubt there is any other world power that would consider challenging or risk the possibility of retaliation, knowing what’s being advertised publicly, worldwide, with this new and latest possiblity.
      And the research and development will continue, it never stops. 24/7 365.
      The USA never let’s up. And shouldn’t.
      The USA will never strike first with nuclear weapons…never again.
      We’ve already been there, done that. Never again. Lesson learned!
      This new and latest design is more about letting the rest of the world know more about what the end of mankind’s place on earth could be and how quickly it will end for every single one of US that’s alive now!

        You have made a solid point in saying that we know not to strike first from when we did it before. However the part that makes it the worse is other countries don’t have that fear like we do. That’s the scary crazy part because once they release anything we will more than likely be able to track it and once that happens ours will deploy and that isn’t going to good for anyone’s survival

      FYI: The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, “Little Boy,” had an explosive yield equivalent to roughly 15 kilotons of TNT.

      360 kilotones is nothing the w83 warhead is still in US inventory it has the largest yield of any current US warhead at 1.2 Megtonnes.

      It implies the user can control how much yield the bomb expends within the given parameters. Small target smaller yield, lager target larger yield. Up to the top limit the missile can carry. :)

    This is the most effective version of the B61 as it has saftey, electronic improvments overall…The B61 is specifically a Bunker-buster hydrogen bomb with Dial-a-yeild technology that allows for a selection of delivery methods which inlclude but are not limited to: airburst fuze, ground burst fuze, and of course lay-down delivery but from models (12) on, has a tailfin rocket nozzle to assist in ground penetration before detonation….This new model (13) has electronic connections able to data link with (B21 Raiders) avionics same as with the B61-12s connections to the B-2 stealth…

    Back in the 50s or early 60s tsar bomb 50 megatons could have been much stronger if they didn’t put enough lead to slow down the 3rd stage that was back in the old days imagine how much power and and the sizes of these weapons are very small now

    The profound ignorance displayed by this article and comments is mindboggling. The author can not even do math. The yield of the new bomb of 360 kilotons is 30 times greater than the 12 kiloton yield of the Hiroshima bomb. However; this is only 1/30 of the yield of the 10 Megaton bombs that were prevalent during the 1960s. The author is obviously ignorant of the one-third poer scaling laws relevant to weapons effects. This 360 kiloton bomb has barely three times the lethal radius of the Hiroshima bomb.

    The new bombs are engineered to enable penetration to buried bunkers.

    What would be interesting would be reporting on the possibility that these new nukes utilize shaped nuclear charge technology to maximize the effects on deeply buried bunkers such as Iran’s nuclear facilities.

      I had to read the article 3x to comprehend it. It sounds like a bunch of the same thing over again in same and different words meaning the same thing but trying to mean something different all at the same time. 👈☝️ get my point? At then end I came up with a bunch of confusion and no worthy information to take with me. Just bunch blah blah!

    You guys need to check your facts. Little Boy dropped on Hiroshima was only 15 kilotons. 3 times that would be 45 kilotons, not 360.
