Think of it, we can launch platforms with 3 or more large re-entry vehicles (MIRVs on a minute man, for example). Instead of planning to re-enter, just launch and leave, and replace the MIRVs with replacement satellites. Technology is not difficult at all, and it makes sense for redundancy, speed, and stealth (in the mind of opponents don’t know what’s up there).
